Excursion switch for excess movement with out of balance loads. Used on suspended Washer Extractors and Centrifugal Extractors
An Excursion Switch is a motion limit switch. You only find these on machines that have a suspension system integrated. There is no excursion switch on a rigid mount machine. The rat tail of the switch is aligned inside an actuator window, a bracket that has a circular or rectangular opening. Rectangular windows are often adjustable. If the switch makes (hit by the window) the machine is forced to stop extract and recycle back through a distribution cycle in order to rebalance the load.
There is also a vibration switch (a microswitch with a weight on the wand) on most machines, mounted in a control box or panel. Since the controls should not vibrate, the vibration switch is best described as "the machine is trying to leave the building" switch. It best indicates a frame not properly bolted the floor. It is not a precision device. Some folks try to adjust it as if it is a precision device and while that may prove entertaining, it was not intended for this use.

The second Excursion Switch is 09R030A04 / EATON SWITCH WAND 11" ASSY. Used on larger extractors after 2014. This is a stand alone part and not nested within a cable or bracket build of materials.
