Weir Cake Breaker (Cake Buster)
Milnor purchased a cake breaker from Weir (A UK Company) to break cakes delivered from a press. This device breaks apart the cake for post sorting of the extracted good.
Pictures of the cake breaker are attached.
The device uses compressed air to regulate pressure on the star rollers that squeeze the cake.  2 air cylinders are used, one on each roller.  The roller is turned by a gear reducer mounted on each star roller shaft.

An elevator off he press will drop a cake into the upper throat of the cake breaker.  Star wheels turn to break the cake as a photo eye is made in the cake breaker.

The motor on the gear box is simply run by a contactor.  The motors are reverse direction if the cake is stuck.  This reversal  may be timer controlled.
More data to be added as we learn more.

2 cake breakers first installed at EcoDirect in Chicago.
