WEG Inverters
WEG inverters replace some Yaskawa inverters

Why WEG?

On some MCR,MWR,MWF models that required 120V single phase power input, we used a Yaskawa inverter with 120 volt input and 240 volt 3 phase output.  Yaskawa discontinued the line of inverters and the only alternative for the power required was to go to a WEG inverter.

What do I need?

The WEG CFW300 is the current inverter for replacement.  This consists of two components, the inverter and the expansion card.  These can be purchased via kit number KEMINVWEGC.  The inverter part number is 09MWW006A37, and the I/O expansion card is 09MWWAD4O3.

Inverter Constants

The WEG inverter uses different constants than a Yaskawa.  You can find current inverter constants for your machine on our Inverter Constants page.

Wiring Connections

Attached to this article is the most recent wiring diagram for WEG inverters. The terminals have different numbers than the Yaskawa inverters.

Installation

The WEG inverter mounts via a DIN rail or mounting tabs on the back of the inverter.
  1. Wire the inverter input as follows:
    Terminal MarkingInbound Wire
    PEGround (Protective Earth)
    L/L1120VAC
    N/L2Neutral
  2. Wire the inverter output as follows:
    Terminal MarkingOutbound Wire
    PEGround (Protective Earth)
    UL1
    VL2
    WL3
  3. Remove the cover for the input terminals.
  4. Then remove XC4 using a flat head screwdriver.
  5. Insert the I/O expansion card onto the XC4 pin header.
  6. Wire the remaining terminals as outlined in the wiring diagram attached.

F031 Error (connection to I/O expansion card lost)

If your inverter shows the following display, the expansion card has either come loose or failed.
Error F031

The current schematic manuals show the wiring for the new inverter.  Older manuals will show the Yaskawa original.

The inverter constants are available for these machine models.  Be sure to find the WEG inverter constant sheet for the model desired.

See the schematic for terminal identification attached.
