On the Single Stage Press, the can raises to allow the goods to discharge from the press after the pressing cycle. After the goods have discharged, the can must lower to accept a new load. It is important that the can hydraulic cylinders move at the same time and speed to avoid bending the rod of the cylinder.
Each cylinder uses one counterbalance valve and one check valve located in a block at the can cylinder mounting flange.
The counterbalance valve is shown highlighted on the picture.
To start adjustment of the can counterbalance valves, turn the adjustment screw fully clockwise (CW) to the limit of travel. Then turn the adjustment screw 1/2 turn counterclockwise (CCW).
Manually run the can up and down. If needed, adjust the lagging cylinder by turning the screw further CCW. This opens the valve at a lower pressure. Make small adjustments retest until the cylinders move in unison.
