Note: seals are unique to the size of the ram and to the manufacturer of the ram.
If the cylinder is leaking hydraulic fluid at the bottom you only need a V-packing kit. If the cylinder is leaking internally, around the piston, you need a total seal kit. The tech who is doing the work should know the difference.
The complete rebuild seal kit is specific to the manufacturer.
The customer must determine if they have a ram manufactured by HYDRAtech or HSI. You can confirm this on the ram nameplate.

Be careful as 27E161639R is a remanufactured cylinder. If a '6' is mistakenly typed '9' a customer may have a cylinder show up on their dock instead of a 16" HSI seal kit.
Note about bolt kits: The bolts in the bolt kit are to replace bolts between the hub and the rod and the hub and the platen.
Vee Pack Seal Kit
Vee-Packing is interchangeable between ram manufacturers.

Wiper Seal
A wiper seal is a part of the total seal kit. To replace a wiper seal the Packing ring must be taken off the shaft which requires the platen and the hub to be removed. SO, if using split Vee packing, the wiper would not be replaced.
The wiper sits in the Vee-Packing gland and is seen from the bottom of the press around the shaft.
If it is cracked or pieces are missing, it can be ordered with the following numbers and should be changed when doing a Vee-Packing job.
The wiper seal is interchangeable between ram manufacturers.

Drain Seals
The Drain seal located in the packing ring above the wiper seal. If you remove the platen and hub you can change this seal too. This seal may not provide great any great benefit. But, if you are removing the platen and hub you may consider changing this seal.

Always ensure the same shim stack height on each bolt. DO NOT mix total shim stack heights!Remove/add shims to adjust the tightness on the seal.
