How do I Install a Brake Resistor?
When replacing a Yaskawa GPD305 inverter with a V1000, a braking resistor needs to be installed. This guide will walk through the parts and wiring necessary to install the new inverter.
When replacing a Yaskawa GPD305 inverter with a V1000, a braking resistor will need to be installed.  This prevents the V1000 inverter from seeing excessive voltage on the internal DC Bus as a motor decelerates from extract speed resulting in an oV error.

The following parts are required:

QTYMilnor P/NDescription
109MV100RES100Ω resistor
209MV10DBBKResistor mounting brackets
130RA175TThermostat opens at 175°
103 BL1X1Mounting bracket for thermostat

Miscellaneous hardware will be needed to attach the resistor, thermostat and mounting brackets. 18AWG wire will be needed to connect the thermostat and 14AWG wire will be needed to connect the resistor.
After installing the inverter, mount the resistor on the side of the electric panel. Use discernment when deciding on the mounting location of the resistor. Mount the thermostat 3/4" away from resistor.

Connect the resistor to the B1 and B2 terminals of the inverter using 14AWG wire.
Connect the thermostat in series with the inverter contactor coil using 18AWG wire.
