Dryer burner performance issues?
If you are seeing dryer performance issues you may want to see these pics and explanations. These pics relate to burners only which were inspected because of low temps or big yellow flames.
These are a collage of field supplied pics that amazed us and caused dryer performance issues.

This pic is of an Eclipse Air Heat burner which is a popular option on a 64" dryer.  The gas ports are located in the center of the burner casting. They are the smaller of 3 rows of holes.  In this example most of the gas ports are clogged with some form of mineral deposit and nearly blinded the gas ports completely.  This dryer was not reaching expected inlet temperatures and drying very slowly.

In addition, the "wings" on the burner which help infuse combustion air into the flame.  These plates here are cracked and deformed.  The extent of the deformation and cracks indicate that the burner was starving for combustion air which causes a large yellow flame.  this yellow flame radiates heat to the plates and the plates glow red.  When this happens, they expand and crack.

While there are cracks in the 'wings", this burner may perform reasonably well if the gas ports are cleaned out carefully with a drill bit. Be sure not to enlarge the port hole size.  The root of the combustion air deficit can be seen in the next pic.

This next pic shows the inside of the combustion air chamber of the eclipse Air Heat burner.  The combustion air fan blows into the square hole in the rear center of the burner.  The air is diffused through holes across the diffuser plate.  In this example the diffuser plate is blinded by collection of fine lint.  When this occurs, the burner will fire but the air deficit will cause yellow flame in some areas and the 'wings' will deform and crack.  This could have been cleaned using the Milnor supplied compressed air wand inserted through a hole drilled in the end of the burner.

The next pic shows a 3 million BTU ratio air burner removed from the dryer burner housing.  The combustion air diffuser was blinded by fine lint and cause severe yellow flames that were stretching up to 8 feet long into the dryer fire box.  The box as damaged are showed scorching of paint on the outside of the burner box.  This must be removed to be cleaned and then reinstalled. If you see yellow flames, you have a combustion air deficit.  Some of the lint fell off as we removed the burner from the dryer.
